This offbeat and fun wedding at The Allan House in Austin, Texas was a total dream. The Allan House is a charming historic Victorian home built in 1883 in downtown Austin. It has since been turned into an event venue, and I absolutely loved shooting there! As soon as I heard Kaitlyn and Davin were planning their wedding at the House, I knew it was going to be a lot of fun!
I first met Kaitlyn when I did her bridal photo session. Her mom had come along, and we had a great girls day hanging out while I snapped photos. She and her mom are the sweetest human beings! It didn’t take long for me to realize that I would get along great with them.
Kaitlyn and Davin had a springtime wedding. They’re very calm and welcoming, and it’s so easy to tell how in love they are. They’re so sweet to one another. The looks they kept throwing back and forth to each other during their wedding day were priceless and so cute and funny! Even though they didn’t have a coordinator or planner for their wedding, the entire day turned out SO beautifully. Everything went smoothly, and we got so many amazing candid moments captured of the two of them. Their getting ready photos were to die for! Davin and the groomsmen were having so much fun modelling for me – and they crushed it. 😉

Kaitlyn and Davin decided to do a first look before the ceremony, so Kaitlyn walked down the steps toward the back garden where Davin was waiting for her with his back turned. I could tell how excited she was, and how nervous he was just waiting for her. When he turned and looked at her, his mile wide smile said it all, and it was SO fun to capture them! They greeted guests outside the house, and we took some bridal party photos before the ceremony.
Having a first look on your wedding day is such a great opportunity to spend some extra time alone together.
It also frees up time post-ceremony to dance and party with your guests since a lot of the portraits are out of the way.
The details and decor were awesome! They had gold touches on the cake stand (they had two cakes!), hand lettered signs, and centrepieces for the tables. All of the guests were so excited once they arrived at the house, and the happy energy in each room was infectious. The guests took their seats at the outdoor ceremony set up, waiting excitedly for the ceremony to begin. Davin walked out of the house with their two dogs on leashes made out of ivy leaves, which was so cool.
The ceremony itself was gorgeous and touching, but it was also a lot of fun! At one point Kaitlyn turned to look at her guests – who were all wearing bunny ear headbands, which she hadn’t noticed – and burst out laughing. She and Davin kept laughing and grinning the whole walk down the aisle after they kissed and said “I do”. They were giddy and so, so happy.
I had so much fun with them for their bride + groom portraits. They were super relaxed for them because we had already done their first look.
We did get a few serious photos, but most of my favorite portraits are of them smiling, laughing, and whispering into each other’s ears. I feel like it’s a perfect snapshot of their relationship!
They had their first dance as husband and wife in the courtyard, where twinkle lights were strung in the trees. I’ve never seen a couple have so much fun to dance and twirl in front of their guests! It made me so happy to watch them have fun and bust out some wicked dance moves. There were touching speeches throughout the rest of the evening. The twinkle lights in the trees created a cozy, intimate atmosphere as the sun went down.
The rest of the evening was filled with awesome dance moves, tons of laughter, and cake, cigars and confetti.
Kaitlyn + Davin left their Allan House wedding late that night as their guests saw them off, and it was the perfect end to an awesome, fun filled day. They are the definition of lovebirds, and I had a blast watching them all day long.
