Commons Ford Park, Austin TX Engagement Session | Daniela + Brent
I met Daniela and Brent for the first time when we met up at Commons Ford Park for their engagement session. They had found me online after searching for a photographer that fit the vibe they were looking for.
CHOOSING YOUR SHOOT LOCATION
Commons Ford Park in Austin, TX was one of the spots I suggested to them. I had been dying to shoot there, and when they checked out the photos of the park they loved it!
I love all of the different outdoor settings at Commons Ford Park. It’s a 200-acre park in Austin that has prairies, a canyon, and a chaparral. Lake Austin is a beautiful spot for photos or a picnic, and Commons Ford Creek runs through the middle of the park. There’s also a waterfall that you can get to with a short hike.
WHAT TO WEAR
I met Daniela and Brent at the entrance to Commons Ford Park, and they were dressed to impress!
…and everyone else was walking around practically (or in some instances, literally), naked…WHOOPS! The Texas summer heat was insane and pretty well everyone had opted for bathing suits.
We managed to find some beautiful hidden spots in the park, away from the crowds. Once I got them alone and away from the crowds of people, Daniela and Brent were able to relax and have fun. You can see in the photos how comfortable they are together, and how in love they are in real life.
DURING YOUR SESSION: JUST GO WITH THE FLOW!
The mosquitoes were pretty aggressive and ended up stalking us in a few locations! We had to run away and find another beautiful spot in the park. While this may seem like a bad thing, it ended up being perfect because we found beautiful fields of wildflowers in the prairies.
The sunset at that point was amazing, so Daniela did a quick outfit change into the cutest polka dot dress. We ended the session there to catch some gorgeous golden light.

WHY GOLDEN HOUR IS THE BEST TIME FOR PHOTOS
Talk to any photographer about the best time of day for photos, and you will likely get the answer, “golden hour”. It’s the time just before sunset when the light is at its most beautiful. If you’re planning a session, then you definitely want to ask your photographer when you can be sure to catch the golden hour light!
Daniela, Brent and I became friends by the end of the night and ended up having a blast! (Despite seeing some naked people and occassionally getting attacked by mosquitos!).
